Privacy Policy

TropicalInfo is built to give you hurricane information, not to harvest your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum needed to run the service and we never sell your personal information.

Information we collect

TropicalInfo collects the minimum information needed to deliver hurricane alerts and tracking features. For free accounts: email address and password hash. For paid accounts: billing information processed by Stripe (we never see card numbers). For alert subscribers: the locations you've configured.

When you visit any page, our servers log the request — IP address, page visited, timestamp, user-agent. These logs are retained for 90 days for operational and abuse-prevention reasons, then deleted.

How we use your information

• To deliver the service you signed up for (alerts, tracking, plain-language summaries).
• To send notifications you opted in to (email, SMS, push).
• To bill paid subscriptions and prevent fraud.
• To improve the product — usage patterns inform what we build next.

Sharing and disclosure

We don't sell personal information. We share it only with the third parties needed to deliver the service: Stripe (billing), our email/SMS gateway providers, and our cloud infrastructure host. We disclose information in response to lawful legal process when required, and we'll notify you when permitted to do so.

Cookies

We use cookies for session management (keeping you logged in) and basic analytics. We don't use third-party advertising trackers. You can clear cookies anytime; doing so signs you out.

Your rights

You can export your data, correct it, or delete your account from your account settings. EU and California residents have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA; contact us to exercise them.
